Carole Turbin is an artist and writer who lives in Brooklyn, New York. In the early 1960s she studied painting and drawing in New York City and Berkeley, California. A few years later, after joining New York Radical Feminists, she decided to learn about woman's history. She earned a PhD in Sociology from the New School for Social Research (1978), and then taught, researched, and published books and articles on the history of workingwomen and material culture. In the mid-1990s she returned to art and became a printmaker. Her subject is the objects and settings that ordinary people encounter in their homes and neighborhoods.
